Our Fourteen Men's Leather Belts

All fourteen belts are in the table below, grouped by leather, so you can choose the hide first and the colour second. Each name opens that belt's page.

Every belt is made in South Africa to the size you give us. The Tan Serengeti Ostrich Leg Belt and the Zambezi Full Grain Leather Belt are limited editions.

Which Leather Should You Choose?

Choose by surface. Full-grain bovine is smooth, ostrich and crocodile carry the pattern of the hide, and Nguni hide has a pattern unique to each piece.

Four belts are cut from full-grain bovine leather. The African Dawn Leather Belt is plain black, and the African Sunset Leather Belt is black with textured embossed detailing at the buckle. The Kalahari Full Grain Leather Belt is black outside and vegetable tan inside, with decorative stitching along the strap. On the Zambezi Full Grain Leather Belt, which is vegetable tan, cross-stitching runs along both edges and on the keeper loop.

Five belts are genuine ostrich leg leather, which has a scale pattern. They come in Serengeti Brown, Serengeti Black, Vegetable Tan and Serengeti Blue, and the brown and black belts have a vegetable-tan interior and contrast stitching. The Kruger Ostrich Hide Belt is a different ostrich leather, with a raised quill pattern, in Kruger Brown.

The Safari Crocodile Belly Belt is genuine crocodile belly leather with a large-scale tile pattern, in Safari Brown. Its buckle is covered in leather, so no metal shows, and the edges carry contrast cross-stitching.

The Sahara Crocodile-Embossed Leather Belt is full-grain cowhide with a deep crocodile pattern embossed on it. It contains no crocodile hide. The belt is Sahara Brown with a smooth tan interior and a silver-toned buckle, and at R3,500 it is one of our two least expensive.

The Savuti Sartorial Suede & Smooth Leather Belt alternates diagonal panels of suede and smooth full-grain bovine leather. It is Sartorial Black, with a tan interior and a suede keeper loop.

The two Zulu Treasure Nguni Hide Belts carry inlaid panels of genuine Nguni cattle hide on full-grain bovine leather, framed with cross-stitching. One is black and white, the other brown and white. Both belong to our Zulu Treasure collection.

Belt Size Guide: How to Measure in Centimetres

The surest way to find your belt size is to measure a belt you already wear. Each belt page has a required box, "Belt size in centimetres", which accepts 70 to 150. Its instruction reads: "Measure a belt you wear, from the fold at the buckle to the hole you use."

1. Lay a belt that fits you flat on a table.
2. Find the fold where the leather wraps around the buckle. Start the tape there and leave the buckle itself out.
3. Measure to the hole you use.
4. Read the tape to the nearest centimetre and enter that number on the belt page.

Men's Belt Size Chart

If you have no belt to measure, start with your trouser waist. The chart converts it to centimetres at 2.54 cm to the inch, rounded to the nearest centimetre, and the third column adds two inches for the belt.

We suggest adding about two inches, or 5 cm, to your trouser size, because the belt sits over the waistband and the shirt. Add more for trousers that sit low on the hips. Trouser labels vary between makers, so treat the chart as a starting point. Before you commission a belt, measure your waist over your trousers where the belt will sit.

Which Belt for a Suit, Smart Casual or Jeans?

Match the belt to your shoes in colour, and choose a plainer belt the more formal the occasion.

With a suit and black formal shoes we would wear the African Dawn Leather Belt, our plain black leather belt with a nickel-plated buckle. With a brown shoe we would take the Serengeti Ostrich Leg Belt in Serengeti Brown.

Smart casual allows more texture. With chinos and a blazer we would wear the Savuti Sartorial Suede & Smooth Leather Belt, the Kruger Ostrich Hide Belt or the Safari Crocodile Belly Belt.

With jeans we would choose visible stitching or colour: the Kalahari Full Grain Leather Belt, the Zambezi Full Grain Leather Belt, the Blue Serengeti Ostrich Leg Belt or either Zulu Treasure Nguni Hide Belt.

Ordering, Delivery and Returns

Every belt is made to order, usually in 30 days and in up to three months when our order book is full. We make it once you commission it, so a belt ordered in the week before a date will not arrive for that date. Delivery is free across South Africa.

You may exchange or return a belt within 15 days under our return policy. It must come back in its original packaging and in like-new condition, and you pay the courier that returns it. If the belt does not fit as you expected, we send you a different size at our expense. Each belt carries our guarantee: three years on the stitching and five years on the hide.
